Using the Player
The player works two ways, depending on whether the session is running.
Live: everyone listens together
During a live session the host controls playback and everybody else's player follows. When the host presses play, your player plays; when they move to the next track, so do you.
If you want to listen on your own, you can turn Sync off and use your own play and pause while the same track is loaded. Turn sync back on to catch up.
Recap: your own copy
After a session ends, the same page becomes a recap you play yourself: start, stop and move around at your own pace. Which tracks are still there depends on what the group and each artist chose to keep available.
If a video recording of the session is available, playing it will also load tracks and play them at the right time so you can replay the session as it happened.
The controls
- Play / Pause and Stop.
- Volume and Mute.
- Sync on/off — whether you follow the host. Turn it off to listen at your own pace during a live session; turn it back on to rejoin.
- Playback quality — a higher quality stream where one is available. Worth turning down on a poor connection.
- The waveform shows the shape of the track and where you are in it. It also shows markers for comments left on the track.
Leaving feedback
Where the session has comments switched on, what you write is attached to the point in the track you were at, so the artist can see which moment you meant.
If the audio doesn't start
This is the most common problem and it is usually the browser rather than the site: browsers block audio that nobody clicked for, and in a live session the click belongs to the host. You will see a message explaining it with the steps for your browser — Player Issues has the full version.
