Message Templates
Message templates are the wording of everything the site sends on your behalf — session announcements, reminders, confirmations. They're at Manage → Templates.
Every template has a default written for you. You only need this page if you want something to sound like your group rather than like the site.
What you can change
Each template has:
- Recipients — who gets it.
- Title — the subject line, or the heading on an inbox message.
- Contents — the message itself, in Markdown.
- Contents for text emails — a plain version, for mail readers that don't show formatting.
Placeholders
Templates use placeholders for the things that change: the session's name, a link to it, the member's name. The ones a template can use are listed beside it when you edit it, with what each one means. A placeholder that template doesn't have won't be filled in, so use the listed ones.
Starting from the default
Copy gives you your own version of a template, starting from the default wording, and your copy is what gets sent from then on.
Delete removes your version and the default comes back. Nothing is lost permanently — you can always start again from the default.
What gets sent
Templates cover session announcements (added, changed, canceled, going live, a recap becoming available), place reservations and reminders for sessions and conferences, badges being earned, tracks being submitted, and the account emails like confirming an address or resetting a password.
Which of these go out at all is the group's Message Targets, at Manage → Advanced — on-site messages, email, Discord posts, or any combination of the three. Beyond that, Discord has to be connected for channel posts, and each member's own email preferences decide what reaches their inbox.
