Badges

Badges mark what members have done in your group — turned up, submitted music, been around a while. They're set up at Manage → Badges.

Making a badge

Each badge has a name, an icon and a color, plus:

  • Type — what earns it. The six kinds are below.
  • Threshold — how much of that thing it takes.
  • Hoisted — whether holders are shown separately in the member list, the way Discord hoists a role.
  • Display order — the order badges appear on a member.

The six kinds

  • Event Attendance — sessions attended.
  • Music Submission — tracks submitted.
  • Participation — taking part: comments, questions, the things that make a session a conversation rather than a broadcast.
  • Longevity — how long they have been a member.
  • Activity Level — how consistently active they are.
  • Contribution — how much they have supported the group financially, through Patreon. The threshold is in whole currency units, and it counts lifetime support, so it is never taken back.

When members earn them

Most badges appear as soon as somebody earns them — submitting a track, attending a session, joining in. The ones that measure something over time — Longevity, Activity Level and Contribution — are worked out once a day.

Update Earned Badges checks everybody now. Use it after adding a badge, to give it to the members who already qualify.

The page lists who holds what and when they earned it.

Badges from Patreon

A badge can also be granted rather than earned: Patreon tiers point at badges you have already defined here. A granted badge arrives when somebody starts supporting and goes away when they stop — unlike an earned badge, which they keep.

So define the badge first, then point the tier at it.
